While most designers start by hand sketching their ideas, many are now using CAD programs to assist them visualize their thoughts. With CAD, designers can see their work in 3D. They can experiment with colors, styles, and forms more easily than they can with actual cloth on real people.
Designers create samples using materials that will be used in production. If fashion editors and trade shows like it, samples are made and sold to the public.
Creating a spring or autumn collection might take anywhere from six months to a year, depending on the specialty. Along with spring and fall, several companies provide monthly designs.
